A legal disclaimer

Welcome to First Love Tattoo! We look forward to working with you. These Terms & Conditions, along with our No Refund Policy, constitute a legally binding agreement between the client and First Love Tattoo, owned and operated by Juan Nava and Tracie Juel. By booking an appointment and submitting a deposit, you agree to all the terms outlined below.

 

Terms & Conditions - the basics

1. Booking & Deposit Policy

 

All appointments require a non-refundable deposit to secure your booking.

  • Deposit: The deposit amount will be determined by your artist based on the size and complexity of the project. This payment is to cover the artist's time for consultation, design work, and holding the appointment slot.

  • Non-Refundable: As per our separate policy, all deposits are strictly non-refundable for any reason.

  • Application: The deposit is credited toward the final cost of your tattoo on the day of your appointment. For multi-session tattoos, the deposit is applied to the final session.

  • Forfeiture: Your deposit will be forfeited if you violate the terms of our Rescheduling Grace Period (as previously defined), arrive under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or fail to present valid ID.

 

2. Health, Safety & Eligibility

 

Your health and safety, as well as the sterility of our studio, are our top priority.

  • Age Requirement: All clients must be 18 years of age or older to receive a tattoo, regardless of parental consent. This is non-negotiable.

  • Valid Identification: You must present a valid, government-issued photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, Passport, etc.) at the beginning of every appointment. Failure to provide valid ID will result in the immediate cancellation of your appointment and the forfeiture of your deposit.

  • Refusal of Service: Juan Nava, Tracie Juel, and any authorized artists reserve the right to refuse service to any client for reasons including, but not limited to:

    • Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

    • Failing to provide proper identification.

    • Presenting with a contagious illness (cold, flu, etc.).

    • Having sunburn, rash, open wounds, or severe skin irritation on the area to be tattooed.

    • Displaying aggressive, abusive, or inappropriate behavior.

  • Medical Disclosure: By proceeding with the tattoo, you certify that you have truthfully disclosed all relevant medical information, including, but not limited to, allergies, skin conditions, pregnancy/nursing status, and medical conditions (e.g., hemophilia, diabetes, etc.).

 

3. Design & Art Policy

 

The final artwork is a collaboration, but the artist's time and expertise must be respected.

  • Design Viewings: Custom designs will be presented to you on the day of your appointment, not in advance via email or text. This allows the artist to focus on drawing without excessive interruption.

  • Minor Revisions: We are happy to make minor adjustments and small tweaks to the design on the day of your appointment.

  • Major Revisions: If you require a complete change of idea, concept, size, or placement that was not discussed during the initial consultation, it is considered a Major Revision. This will result in the forfeiture of your original deposit (to compensate for lost drawing time) and will require a new deposit and a new appointment to be scheduled.

  • Artistic Rights: All final tattoo designs and stencils created by Juan Nava or any First Love Tattoo artist remain the intellectual property of the artist, even after the tattoo is applied. We ask that you do not take the final stencil or design artwork for use at another studio.

 

4. Appointment Etiquette & Preparation

 

Please follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth, professional session for everyone.

  • Lateness: If you anticipate being late, you must contact us immediately. Arriving more than 30 minutes late without notice will be considered a No-Show, resulting in the forfeiture of your deposit.

  • Guests: Due to limited space, biohazard concerns, and the need for artist focus, we kindly request that you do not bring an entourage. You may bring one adult guest (18+) for support, provided they are not disruptive. Children/Minors are strictly prohibited in the tattooing area.

  • Personal Preparation:

    • Arrive clean, having showered immediately before your appointment.

    • Eat a substantial meal within 2 hours of your session.

    • Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area and that you don't mind potentially getting ink on.

    • Do not apply any numbing creams, tanning products, or lotions to the area.

  • Photo/Video Release: Unless you state otherwise, you grant First Love Tattoo and its artists the right to take photographs and/or videos of your tattoo and the process, and to use these images for promotional purposes on social media, websites, and other media without compensation.
